This month we welcome Yiran Tan, who joins the group for six months as a visiting postgraduate researcher from the University of Science and Technology Beijing. She will be investigating the conversion of metal-organic frameworks to metal oxide materials for catalysis.

Today we had a fantastic group day out with the Seb Pike group from Warwick University, discussing science through presentations and over lunch, and enjoying some more relaxed time going bowling together!
This weekend we took our new hands-on outreach activities to CoCoMAD festival and it was a roaring success!
We had mineral specimens from the Lapworth museum, a growing ‘magic’ crystal tree, jigsaw puzzle nucleation, magnetic tile crystals, The Nucleation Game with live music and a giant interactive crystal that everyone got involved in helping to grow.

This week, Suzie presented her PhD research at the School of Chemistry Postgraduate Symposium. Well done!
Today Sophie and Hannah submitted their MSci project reports, and we celebrated with a meal at Kimchi in Selly Oak. Well done both of you!
